I was introduced to bear making in the 90s and, after attending a couple of classes, progressed onto designing my own patterns. I enjoy making miniature bears but do also make larger bears. I have entered my creations into the Royal Agricultural Show in Pietermaritzburg since 2010, winning Best Miniature Teddy twice, Best Teddy once and the Dunlop Trophy once. I use mainly mini velvet for my miniatures although I do sometimes use sassy or alpaca. I enjoy making bears with various colours throughout the body, sometimes having to dye the material to achieve the desired colours. My bears are all fully jointed, having a disc neck joint and string jointed limbs and onyx bead eyes. The larger bears are made from mohair and alpaca from Steiff Schulte in Germany. They are disc jointed with glass eyes, some of which are hand painted. My bears all come with a pedigree card listing content. All bears are made in a non-smoking environment.
