Kim Reed Illustration
Kim Reed is an illustrator and graphic designer based between Hilton and Montrose. She grew up in Durban, but moved to Hilton at the beginning of high school. Kim is a self-taught artist who is actively learning, embracing and sharpening her skill and craft every day. She works mainly with watercolour and mixed media and her subject matter consists mostly of nature, food and things that reflect a happy lifestyle. A selection of her prints is currently being supplied to Anomaly Index Art Gallery in Somerset West and she also does custom and personalised prints on commission.
Kim says that she has always been creative, but only really started to pursue her passion for illustration and design seriously in 2018. After completing a degree in Linguistics from the University of Cape Town in 2016, she was involved in graphic design work for an education app where her interest grew stronger and she started illustrating as a hobby until she decided to start Kim Reed Illustration in 2020.
Kim is very inspired by nature, especially the natural landscapes of Norway and South Africa and says that she has recently discovered how much of an influence her Norwegian roots and South African adventures have had on her artwork.
