I have been a graphic designer for more than 50 years. After more than 15 years in advertising agencies both in South Africa and the UK, including 3 years as Creative Director of Reader’s Digest, I was offered a position to run Penrose Graphics during the “new listings boom” of the 80’s, and was in charge of a large studio handling in excess of 400 JSE Annual Reports per annum. At the beginning of 1990 I left to start my own company and an impressive client list was soon built up.

Annual Reports were produced for more than sixty companies including JSE listed Amrel, Amalgamated Beverage Industries (ABI), Lebowa Bakeries and Ellerines, all of whose reports were awarded top ten placings in the “Financial Mail Top Twenty Awards,” with ABI being adjudged the top Annual Report for 1999. Other “Blue Chips” included Sappi, Wooltru, Metro Holdings and Rainbow Chicken.

Although I still run my graphic design business, I am passionate about bird photography and have won a number of international awards. One picture of a Pied Kingfisher taken in the Pilanesberg, was adjudged the top bird pic from 850 entries sent in by 85 photographic clubs throughout the world.
